Traditions
Year after year we keep the fun and cosy traditions that are the hallmark of our house, and that the children look forward to with excitement and delight.
The year round at Globus
We follow the course of the year with fixed traditions in every season, and two that belong to the whole year.
Spring
Easter
We cut out Easter decorations and roll eggs, and we hold an Easter lunch where every child brings something for the shared Easter table.
Grandparents' day
A cosy morning where grandparents, or another good grown-up friend, make something creative together with the child, and there is fresh coffee for everyone.
Planting weeks
Every child brings a flower that is planted in the garden. We look after the plants together and have small projects sowing seeds and watching them sprout.
Summer
Farm trip
We take the bus to a farm in North Zealand, where the children ride on the tractor, ride the horses and pet the animals.
Summer party
Our big summer party in June with children and parents in the garden. Every family brings food for a shared buffet, often with a common theme.
Disco party
To round off their time in the school group, the children who are about to start school are invited to a festive evening with disco dancing, dinner and their finest clothes.
Autumn
School bag day
In September the children who have started school come back to visit and show off their school bags. We enjoy ourselves together and eat home-baked buns.
Parents' meeting and the kindergarten's birthday
We hold our parents' meeting, which includes the election for the board.
On 26 October we celebrate the kindergarten's birthday, with buns and presents for the house.
Lantern festival
On a late afternoon in November the children walk in procession through the garden and sing the lantern song.
Afterwards we all eat together indoors.
Winter
Christmas
Christmas is magical at Globus.
All through December we gather in the Pejsestue, our fireplace room, where we sing Christmas songs and count down to 24 December.
We eat rice pudding and carry a bowl up to the attic for the nisse, the Danish Christmas elf, we make Christmas presents and we watch Christmas theatre.
Lucia procession
We hold a Lucia procession, followed by breakfast for children and parents.
Fastelavn
In February we celebrate fastelavn, the Danish carnival, where we dress up in costumes, take turns hitting the barrel until the sweets fall out and cut out fastelavn decorations.
All year round
Kaffemik
Every other month we hold a kaffemik from 8.15 to 9.15 am. Drop by for a cup of coffee, a bite to eat and a good chat with the other parents.
Birthdays
A child's birthday is a big day at Globus.
We celebrate the day with the birthday chair, candles, flags and a t-shirt the child has painted. Children of 3 and 4 celebrate the day at Globus, and for children of 5 and 6 we are happy to come and visit them at home.
